Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin understanding what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about what you’ve been experiencing, what you hope to get out of therapy, and what you feel you need support with right now. I’ll also take time to answer any questions you may have about the therapy process and how I work.
While the first session includes some important background and assessment, I don’t want it to feel like you’re simply answering a list of questions. I want it to feel like a genuine conversation where you can begin to feel comfortable being yourself. I strive to be compassionate, politely direct, and occasionally bring some humor into our sessions because therapy can be uncomfortable at times—and I believe you shouldn’t have to take yourself too seriously while doing difficult work.
As we move forward, we’ll identify practical, individualized goals and strategies that you can begin using between sessions. My hope is that you leave each session feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer sense of what you can work on before we meet again.

I believe therapy should meet you where you are in life because no two people experience life, challenges, or emotions in exactly the same way. I take the time to understand each client’s unique experiences and needs so that our work together feels relevant, practical, and purposeful.
I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a starting point because it gives us an opportunity to explore the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, particularly what may be contributing to anxiety, low mood, or feeling stuck in the present moment. From there, I tailor our approach based on what you need and what feels most helpful to you.
I strive to create a space where you can be open, honest, and yourself. I am compassionate, but I am also real and direct when needed. My goal is to help you develop practical, individualized skills that allow you to better navigate challenges, feel more confident in yourself, and move through life’s transitions with greater clarity and confidence.
